OUR MISSION
We strive to provide quality dance opportunities for children and young adults. Allowing our students to learn from our years of expertise and industry experience, to grow into the best dancers they can be. We aim to motivate, inspire and guide our students to achieve their personal best, whether they are dancing for fun or pursuing a career in performing arts.

ABOUT US
Founded in 2004 by its current director & principal choreographer Ms Olga Lissovskaia, Maximo is named after one of the greatest Russian ballerinas of all time - Ekaterina MAXIMOva. "Dance is my life", Ekaterina once said, and so is ours, here at Maximo Dance Studio.
We are thrilled to allow our students to enter the exciting world of dance. From early on, the littlest of our dancers begin to learn vital skills in our unique Prep Dance program. The program was designed in-house and is the perfect foundation for future dance activities while being excellent for children’s physical development. On completion of the Prep Dance program, students graduate with excellent foundations and are confident to take their next steps.
We use the world-renowned Vaganova method of teaching classical ballet. This teaching program is largely adapted to the Australian standards to equip our students to local expectations and is a wonderful method for our ballet students.
Our staff are a wealth of talent and industry experience, with local and international knowledge of systems and practices. We believe in open communication and provide honest advice on each student’s potential and development. We pride ourselves on our safe, disciplined and productive learning environment with a caring culture to enable results whilst instilling love for the art of dance.
If a student shows a passion for a dance career, we do our best to guide them through professional training, allowing them to become bright new stars on the stage. With the uncompromising quality of our dance education, we aim to nurture every one of our students’ talents and abilities - encouraging them to grow and enjoy every minute here at Maximo.
OUR STORY
With over 35 years of history behind it, Maximo was established in 2004 by Ms Olga Lissovskaia, the current Director & Principal Choreographer. Olga operated a dance studio overseas for over 20 years, with a legacy that exists to this day. Her previous studio was recognised as one of the best dance education organisations in the city as well as the state, and students who wished to enrol in Ms Olga’s studio had to go an audition process. Ms Olga received wide recognition for her work, as well as awards at local and national competitions. But most importantly, she inspired her students to become passionate, professional dancers and dance teachers who continue to exhibit the results of her work to this day.
After moving to Australia, Ms Olga wanted to continue her passion - helping children realise their dreams through dance. She had a vision of a dance education facility where Australian children aspiring to become professional dancers would have the opportunity to take advantage of learning Classical Ballet with the authentic Vaganova method. The program went through a rigorous adaptation process to align with Australian standards and expectations. She envisioned the studio to be a place to share her wealth of knowledge and experience with future generations.

THE VAGANOVA METHOD
The Vaganova method is a world-renowned ballet method that we teach here at Maximo. It is an extraordinary and scientifically proven training program that has produced some of the best dancers in the world. Tailored to Australian standards, Maximo Dance Studio is the only dance school in Brisbane that offers the Vaganova method.
A Vaganova ballet dancer stands out from the crowd. Their skills are unmistakable and their movement is mesmerising. The perfect balance between poetic movement, exceptional elasticity and iron strength - their technical excellence is unparalleled. That's why Vaganova is such an important part of our teaching here at Maximo.
